Why do we need to add auxiliary gas during processing?

1. Air
Air can be directly provided by an air compressor, so it is very cheap compared to other gases. A trace oxide film will appear on the cutting surface, but it can be used as a measure to prevent the coating layer from falling off. The end face of the cut is yellow.
The main applicable materials are aluminum, aluminum alloy, stainless copper, brass, electroplated steel plate, non-metal, etc. However, when the quality requirements of the cutting product are high, aluminum, aluminum alloy, stainless steel, etc. are not suitable for air because air will oxidize the parent material.

2. Nitrogen
When cutting some metals, oxygen will form an oxide film on the cutting surface. Using nitrogen can prevent the oxide film from appearing without oxidation. As a result, it has the characteristics of being able to be directly welded, applied, and having strong corrosion resistance. The end face of the cut is white.
The main applicable plates are stainless steel, electroplated steel, brass, aluminum, aluminum alloy, etc.

3. Oxygen
Mainly used for laser cutting of carbon steel. While using the heat of oxygen reaction to greatly improve the cutting efficiency, the generated oxide film will increase the beam spectrum absorption factor of the reflective material. The cut end face is black or dark yellow.
Mainly applicable to rolled steel, rolled steel for welding structure, carbon steel for mechanical structure, high tension plate, tool plate, stainless steel, electroplated steel, copper, copper alloy, etc.

4. Argon
Argon is an inert gas. It is used to prevent oxidation and nitridation in laser cutting machine cutting. It is also used in welding. Compared with other processing gases, it is expensive and increases the cost accordingly. The cut end face is white.
The main applicable materials are titanium, titanium alloy, etc.
